Homosexuals & Transsexuals ?Judge Society By How It Treats Those Who Are Different

Why is it important to treat homosexuals and transsexual individuals properly? After all, they are in a minority and do not have the ability to enforce their views and lifestyle on the majority. Well, survival of the fittest use of brute force is considered appropriate in a jungle. However, mankind, with its intelligence and sensitivities, believes itself to be somewhat superior the animals.

If the majority is always right, then Hitler’s attempt to wipe out the Jews may well be justified. Tyrants would have to be complied with because they may have the brute force on their side. It is only because mankind believes itself to be above such inane notions that treatment of homosexuals becomes very important.

An ancient saying explains how to assess and analyze an individual. Find out how he or she treats an inferior. If a person does not have the ability to accept that some persons may have different sexual preferences and priorities, it is a clear indication that he or she is not a civilized person at all. To be afraid of differences is to be afraid of what we are.

It is only because mankind has accepted the differences between individuals and yet survived that we have progressed so far. If each and every individual were to be brought up in the same manner and the same pattern, innovation, creativity and beauty from the world would have vanished.

Just take a look at the life around you-you will find that it is variety that makes it more beautiful. From logical to moral reasons, ill treatment of homosexuals is a blot on humanity.

Being Born Different

Far too many heterosexual people are under the ridiculous impression that homosexual people are simply choosing to life a particular lifestyle.  While they do choose what they do, just as straights do, gays did not choose to be born as they are.  When a person is born a particular way, they can not help who and what they are.  To attempt to suppress their natural tendencies would be more than just a betrayal of their own natures.  It would be an outright tragedy for them.  Unfortunately, far too many people really do think that gay people simply choose to be that way, perhaps as a ploy for attention or something.  For people like that, rational reasons take a back seat to dogma, slogan mentalities and ridiculous traditions that are as often as not false to begin with.  A lot of people have always been gay.  They simply have not been courageous enough (or foolhardy enough) to admit it publically.

Admitting to being gay was once punished by being executed, after all.  And when a penalty such as that has been the norm, and even the law, it can lead to the tacking on of quite a stigma.  Why heterosexuals often feel so threatened by homosexuals has never been made clear, but it does seem to be a fairly universal trend all over the world.  Ultimately, it is as ridiculous as hating another person because they were born with a different skin color than you have.  There is nothing intrinsically wrong with it, and it is nothing more than a difference.

Nonetheless, homosexuals exist, they were born that way, and they deserve respect whether heterosexuals want to admit to it or not.  And now that the law is on the side of tolerance, regardless of one’s sexuality (provided that it is of consenting adult human beings), there is very little that the hate mongers can do but cross their arms, swear under their breath and go home.  If you were born different, you have got as much right to express yourself as any other person does, with your sexuality and all.

Loving Someone Like You

There is a lot about homosexuals that heterosexuals often do not understand.  After all, why would a person love someone who is so much like themselves?  While hetero people may ponder that question endlessly, a homo person may just ask the exact opposite question.  Why in the world would a man want to love a woman, whom he can barely understand, who communicates differently than he does, and who has completely different needs than he does?  Why would a woman want to love a man, who is loud, hairy and gross, when she can have a smooth, pretty, sweet smelling woman who can whisper sweet things into her ear as no man ever could?  It might almost seem as if it were far more natural to love someone is more like you than it would be to love somebody who is different from you.

Consider how men and women typically act around one another.  Until puberty hits, they tend to avoid one another in almost every situation in which it is possible to do so.  Only when their desire to mate comes into play do they want to have much of anything to do with one another.  And in our modern society, even during adolescene, guys and gals tend to flock together, even at dances.  So obviously, a gender wants to be among its own group at least as often as it wants to be with the opposite gender.  So it makes one wonder whether the genders actually should be loving one another, and not themselves.

Of course, if everybody were homosexual, our species would probably die out due to a lack of mating.  If we did not become attracted to people of the opposite gender, maternity wards would soon find themselves very bored, and downsizing employees left and right.  But what about loving someone who is similar to yourself?  Have you ever noticed how beautiful people of your own gender can really look?  Both men and women have their lovely points, and their advantages.  Instead of hating this beauty, we should all embrace it as something to be treasured.

Many People Can’t Even Tell

For a lot of heterosexual people, homosexuality is seen as something where the person looks to be different in their every mannerism.  However, for a lot of people, there is absolutely no difference caused by their homosexuality except for their choice of romantic partners.  Perhaps it is great that for the most part, people can not tell the details of your sexuality just by looking at you, or sometimes even through having a basic conversation with you.  While it may end up becoming more apparent as you talk to someone for a long time, it really does not even matter to a lot of people which way you tend toward.  The odd part of it, though, is what happens with a lot of less forward thinking heteros once they know that the person with whom they are interacting is gay.  Their entire temperament can change in completely irrational ways, as they realize that they are talking to someone who was born different.

Oddly enough, this is a difference which is no threat to anybody.  For this reason, a lot of gay people throughout history have taken the safer (and sadder) route of essentially hiding their true sexuality from everyone besides their partners.  For many people, their sexuality has been a constant source of scorn once it has become common knowledge that they feel differently about whom they want than most people do.  It is sad that the relative ease of hiding homosexuality has likely spared a lot of people from a great deal of pain.

This is a type of pain which ought not to exist in an otherwise fairly civilized world.  For far too many people, the concept that homosexuality is somehow wrong or evil overrides any other considerations, and the entire notion just infuriates them to the point where they would only be a step or two away from hurting a homosexual for no other reason than that they exist.  For some backward individuals, that is the only thing that a homosexual has ever done to them.  So will you hide your true colors, or let them show?

Sexuality and Service

Some people are of the opinion that homosexual people should not perform military service.  While there are a lot of ideas surrounding this, the most common thought among military personnel seems to be that they would rather not have people sharing a bunker with them who are going to be busy fantasizing about doing sexual things with them while a battle rages all around them.  As ridiculous as such an idea is, some people seriously believe that a homosexual would not be professional, even in a life or death situation.  Also, some military personnel and civilians feel that there is an inherent disadvantage to homosexuals, which makes them less effective when the bullets and mortars start flying.

First off, the notion that a gay person would be focusing on their sexual fantasies during a battle is stupid to the point of being laughable.  In a combat situation, any sane person (regardless of their sexual orientation) is going to be focused on accomplishing their mission, and getting out of their with everything (their people and their bodies) intact.  If you have ever been in a situation where your life is at stake, sex was probably the last thing on your mind at the time.  Plus, the fact that they allow female soldiers and police officers (both of which sometimes get into the line of fire) shows that people of both genders can somehow manage to keep their libidos in check.

The additional fact of the matter is, the only difference between a gay man and a straight man is who they desire.  In most cases, they are identical when it comes to how they dress, how they act in general society, and how they do pretty much everything else that they do.  In many cases, if you do not know any better through asking them, you could not tell a straight man from a gay man if they stood right next to one another… in uniform.

Homosexuality and Sin

Sometimes, a person will adopt bizarre sets of beliefs which can be extremely difficult to explain.  For instance, some people who practice one religion or another will claim (and will actually seem to believe) that homosexuality is somehow wrong.  Not only does this seem like a strange way to inflict guilt on onesself (as if there are not already plenty of different reasons why a “moral” person should be burdened with a crushing level of guilt), it does not even make sense if you believe in a perfect divine being.  Since perfect beings do not make mistakes, and creator deities obviously created homosexuals, they are obviously intentional and serve a valuable purpose.

Moral people should rightfully be crushed under a never ending burden of unbelievable guilt.  In most cases, they should flagellate themselves unceasingly, as they struggle through this terrible world that they have helped to create and to sustain in its sinning ways.  But then again, who decides which religious law we should be following?  Even among the Abrahammic religions (Christianity, Judaism and Islam), there are a great many differences in what we should and should not be doing.  And there are a lot of different religions which are much further awy from these three faiths, as well.  Homosexuality is perfectly fine with several of them.

Ultimately, the entire concept of having a deity which is both perfect and all powerful implies that homosexuality exists for a reason, even if we mere mortals have no idea what it might be.  If God is perfect, how could something which God does not approve of possibly exist?  Couldn’t God banish the entire notion with a single thought?  Are not all things created by God, including homosexuality?  When you start to think at all about the entire idea, you start to see how ultimately ridiculous it is that anybody would consider homosexuals to be anything but another way that God is making things happen in our lives.
