Why is it important to treat homosexuals and transsexual individuals properly? After all, they are in a minority and do not have the ability to enforce their views and lifestyle on the majority. Well, survival of the fittest use of brute force is considered appropriate in a jungle. However, mankind, with its intelligence and sensitivities, believes itself to be somewhat superior the animals.

If the majority is always right, then Hitler’s attempt to wipe out the Jews may well be justified. Tyrants would have to be complied with because they may have the brute force on their side. It is only because mankind believes itself to be above such inane notions that treatment of homosexuals becomes very important.

An ancient saying explains how to assess and analyze an individual. Find out how he or she treats an inferior. If a person does not have the ability to accept that some persons may have different sexual preferences and priorities, it is a clear indication that he or she is not a civilized person at all. To be afraid of differences is to be afraid of what we are.

It is only because mankind has accepted the differences between individuals and yet survived that we have progressed so far. If each and every individual were to be brought up in the same manner and the same pattern, innovation, creativity and beauty from the world would have vanished.

Just take a look at the life around you-you will find that it is variety that makes it more beautiful. From logical to moral reasons, ill treatment of homosexuals is a blot on humanity.

Being Born Different

Far too many heterosexual people are under the ridiculous impression that homosexual people are simply choosing to life a particular lifestyle.  While they do choose what they do, just as straights do, gays did not choose to be born as they are.  When a person is born a particular way, they can not help who and what they are.  To attempt to suppress their natural tendencies would be more than just a betrayal of their own natures.  It would be an outright tragedy for them.  Unfortunately, far too many people really do think that gay people simply choose to be that way, perhaps as a ploy for attention or something.  For people like that, rational reasons take a back seat to dogma, slogan mentalities and ridiculous traditions that are as often as not false to begin with.  A lot of people have always been gay.  They simply have not been courageous enough (or foolhardy enough) to admit it publically.

Admitting to being gay was once punished by being executed, after all.  And when a penalty such as that has been the norm, and even the law, it can lead to the tacking on of quite a stigma.  Why heterosexuals often feel so threatened by homosexuals has never been made clear, but it does seem to be a fairly universal trend all over the world.  Ultimately, it is as ridiculous as hating another person because they were born with a different skin color than you have.  There is nothing intrinsically wrong with it, and it is nothing more than a difference.

Nonetheless, homosexuals exist, they were born that way, and they deserve respect whether heterosexuals want to admit to it or not.  And now that the law is on the side of tolerance, regardless of one’s sexuality (provided that it is of consenting adult human beings), there is very little that the hate mongers can do but cross their arms, swear under their breath and go home.  If you were born different, you have got as much right to express yourself as any other person does, with your sexuality and all.
